Upgrades give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade item boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which will display an item’s preview at its next upgrade items level if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item upgrading level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers.
