The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas, and was doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. North America was seen as an opportunity to grow for bidet and washlet toilet seats, as opposed its “base” markets in Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto was documenting Toto words to ensure that the next generation would be able to read them. However, many of the words were being replaced by foreign ones, like dui from Bengali for verandah.

Origins

The early history of Toto, which began in 1917, mirrored Japan’s rapid economic growth. In the first half, Toto produced products to meet the demands for modern, new urban housing. To accomplish this, it employed the country’s first tunnel kiln to make ceramics in a continuous flow. It also pioneered automation for production control, which allows for greater efficiency and consistency.

The company began expanding its operations overseas in the late 1980s to benefit from new markets and sales opportunities. The company founded the Cera Trading Company to import and market other manufacturers’ products in order to enhance its own line of sanitary earthenwares as well as plumbing fittings. This strategy boosted sales and expanded the firm’s market share in the world.

In the 90s, Toto began to focus on research and development of water-related appliances. It also upgraded its distribution system to better serve the needs of customers and increase profits. The company embraced a just-in time approach to managing its supply chain and applied the same methodology in its sales strategy. This resulted in a greater level of satisfaction with the customer.

Toto has continued to innovate in the toilet technology. Its latest toilet, for instance, has a strong tornado flush that is more ecologically green than traditional toilets. Toto also makes use of recycled water in its manufacturing process and has a green procurement policy. Toto also produces faucets, bathtubs and hand dryers with higher energy efficiency than conventional models.

The company’s first museum opened in the year 2015, and it has exhibitions on Toto’s seminal products and their development, its group companies (all related to ceramics) as well as the historical background of plumbing and products like bath units and, in a separate gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum also includes a bathroom with a WASHLET toilet and other toilet-related innovations.

Before the formation of Toto the members of the group did sessions for many musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also performed on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

With a name like Asia you’d expect the group to be prog kings and queens but they’re actually a fairly straightforward rock group. The group started out as a quartet and recorded two albums – 1979’s self-titled debut and 1980’s Armed to the Teeth. Although the band have a diverse musical background their biggest hit was achieved in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a major blockbuster, however it did not come without its share of problems. The record companies put the band under pressure to deliver the top single or they would drop the album. Luckily for Toto they did and they did it with the aid of the smash single “Africa.”

Toto’s musical mastery owes a lot to their previous experience since the members had been session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts prior the group. Their sonic signature has become the norm for ’80s pop, and has influenced many modern artists.

The album opens with a strong and pounding sound with tracks like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write amazing AOR songs that slowly build their hooks into your. However, the album also includes some more mellow, jazzy tracks such as The Little Things and 먹튀검증 커뮤니티 (check over here) Chinatown. The album concludes with Great Expectations, a song that combines folk with distortion AOR and should sound like a complete flop, 먹튀검증 커뮤니티 (scientific-programs.science) but works wonderfully well.

After Toto IV The band’s fortunes changed for the worse. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career and the band was through several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in the aftermath of drug-related charges. However, the band continued as a trio featuring Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.

Toto released Isolation despite the turbulence. It wasn’t as popular as IV. The group managed to release an album that was chart-topping, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. This album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was the first album featuring the new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up

Turn Back, the band’s third studio album it was an ode to the classic sextet format, and an even more consistent and powerful effort with a harder edge. The more edgy sound of the album reflected the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball’s greater virtuosity on drums, and a more mature, confident vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich’s keyboard playing was as well more refined, more precise and less akin to earlier efforts.

After touring to promote their album, the group recorded an Amsterdam live performance which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. The studio album came out just a few months later and the band embarked on a world-wide tour in support of it. During this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started looking through old demos and tapes in search of a new album featuring songs that were never recorded before. It was completed in 2001 as a double album titled Then and Now. It was the band’s first album without the single track “A”. The album also included a previously unreleased track titled “Kari-Anne”.

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group’s fourth record, Old Is New was an uncommercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis, which limited his singing ability. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar’s drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the founding members of Asia The original Asia members met in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility that the group could be revived. The lineup, with the exception of Howe who was occupied with Yes at the time, was renamed Toto XIV. They toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
