Choosing a double pram pushchair Pushchair Twin

You require a double stroller to take your twins from A to B. Our selection includes a variety of twin cheap prams and double buggies that come in a variety of configurations to suit your family needs.

Look for a stroller that can fold in one step, and easily put into your boot. You might also want a lighter design, especially if you’re tackling busy high streets.

Side-by-Side

This is the most popular double pushchair. It usually seats two children side by side. They tend to be bigger than single pushchairs. This can make them less agile on paths. It may also be difficult to navigate between kerbs when the car seat is in place. However, the extra width means that they’re generally more comfortable to maneuver through doorways and are distributed more evenly making them more comfortable to carry on your back.

They can be used as twin prams from the beginning and a lot of models can be used with a carrycot or 2 car seats. Some models can be converted to one-mode, with a basket beside (like the Cybex Venus).

The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a perfect example of this. In Twin Mode, you can place the rear seat next to a carrycot. This creates a totally enclosed space for twins, and is perfect for infants. This pram also comes with a couple of very cool accessories, such as the newborn cocoons, which can be put on the front or back (for twin-facing prams) or facing inwards (for a normal single). It’s not as light like other options however it’s very cleverly created.

Lightweight

Cybex is known for innovation and this pushchair converts to a single is no different. Its clever frame expands widthways to take an additional seat, and you can use it as a twin from birth with the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) that create enclosed lie-flat spaces for infants. The large basket of shopping behind the seat can be used in mono mode with just one child. It comes with front and rear suspensions that allows it to handle bumps and uneven surfaces better. Our reviewers selected this car as their top choice.

Available in a range of elegant colors.

Tandem

If you plan to have twins you will require a pushchair that is tandem. This will allow each child to sit and interact with each one another. They are ideal for activities like going to the zoo because the kids can look at all the animals together. These are also great for parents who need to monitor both their toddler and their baby at the same time.

Some tandem pushchairs are extremely adaptable, as they can be converted to single mode. This is particularly useful for families with more than two children (or only your oldest doesn’t need a buggy anymore). This will save you from having to store a buggy that’s empty, which can be expensive.

The Cybex Venus, for example can be used in double or mono mode. The frame can be expanded to allow for an additional seat. It’s not the tiniest pushchair, but it has an enormous basket that can be set behind the front seat in double mode or in the back when it’s in mono mode. The seats can be placed so that they face each the other or higher to see what the other is doing.

Some double tandem pushchairs like the Joolz Geo 3, are capable of seating one over the other or side by side. The slim, sleek frame makes it easy to maneuver through doors and supermarket aisles. Certain models can be used on uneven terrain or for an exercise walk due to their wide rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.

A tandem pushchair can also be used to carry two carrycots, or a car and buggy seat. You can save money by establishing an entire compact travel stroller system from the beginning, and avoiding separate purchases. Be aware that tandems are heavier and longer and may feel less stable when you bump into kerbs or navigating uneven surfaces. They also require dismantling to fit into cars.
