UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

The top screw position as well as the lever and keyhole size are the three measurements you have to check. Use the size guide to help you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This type door handle is available in a wide range of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are suitable for doors with multi-point locks that require a strong design. The handles are inline and run with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be positioned and angled to fit the needs of all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, which allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is especially useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A shorter lever is a good choice for doors where the latch could be operated by a thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles commonly found on doors. These handles can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors. They come in many variations & styles.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle a high performance and durability for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs come with the spindle and screws which allow them to be installed on a new or existing uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres permit a bigger handle, which can be beneficial in replacing a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have springs, which can solve the problem of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be referred to as ‘handle centres or cylinder centres’. It is important to match the right handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size, you’ll be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically round or square with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are spring-loaded. This means they return to a horizontal position after not being used instead of hanging, and possibly sticking in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed versions that allow them to be installed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock body and allowing them to turn the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It depends on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a more secure cylinder while internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can increase security, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This helps stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

There are cylinders that have been designed to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and easier way to gain access than using the use of a multipoint locking window handles system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would drop when the locking window handles mechanism was removed. This simple part is the best solution to fix this problem. It also helps prevent your door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They won’t work with unsprung handles, and you will have to cut a hole in your backplate for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement upvc window handles for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the backplate of the door handle for numerous brands of uPVC doors. They are fitted with a square cut out which allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution for the issue of door handles that have become sagging. These spring cassettes are simple to install and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC door.
