UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out over time and will need to be replaced. It is essential to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing upvc window handles them.

The three measurements to check are the top screw’s position as well as the key hole and lever sizes. Use the size guide to assist you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on doors that are new or replacement. This style of handle is available in many styles and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a strong design. The handles are inline and run with the same spindle as well as screw fixings, so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200,000 cycles. This ensures that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever can also be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A lever that is shorter can be used on doors with latches which can be operated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles commonly found on doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly employed on UPVC doors with double glazed window handle glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in various finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles are supplied with the spindle and screws which allow them to be put on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which can solve the problem of handles for doors that slide out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.

When selecting a replacement upvc window handles UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the PZ dimensions of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is often called the ‘handle centre’ or ‘cylinder centres and is an essential aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size you will then have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you need for your doors. These are usually round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we offer are sprung. This means that they can be reverted to a horizontal position after they are not in use instead of hanging, and possibly being stuck in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a property. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed versions, allowing them to be placed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder case which then reveals pins which can be aligned to those inside the lock body, allow them to rotate an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is essential. It depends on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. External doors, for example should be equipped with cylinders with greater security while doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders are available with extra features that increase security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder must be measured correctly to ensure it’s the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to each end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is important that it is not too long.

The majority of modern cylinders have been designed with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are constructed to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent method of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a lot faster and easier to achieve than gaining access through a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a break-in which can impede the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located in the base plate of your aluminium door handle handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to bring your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. Previously a lot of handles of this kind didn’t have a spring built into them, and as a result, they can droop or ‘drop’ once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple part is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also stops your door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung They will not work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a custom hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They feature an elongated square that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes are a fantastic cost-effective solution to the issue of handles on your doors sliding. They are simple to install and can extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
