Line-up
The band’s third album, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet format of the previous albums. It was a stronger, more constant effort with a harder edge than Hydra. Its edgier sound was indicative of the maturation of group, with drummer Bobby Kimball’s greater ability on the drums and a more mature, confident vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. David Paich’s keyboard playing was also more sophisticated, sharper and less akin to previous recordings.
After touring to promote their album, the band recorded an Amsterdam live performance which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between.
