French-door refrigerators are a perfect blend of functionality and form. They come with stylish double doors that reveal an enormous fridge on top and a freezer drawer below. These refrigerators stand out due to their special features, like through-the-door dispensers as well as higher-end ice makers.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on what you would expect from an French Door Fridge freezer 60cm door fridge that costs this much. It has a decent-sized freezer in the left side. However, it’s not the largest one I’ve seen.
You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create customized storage arrangement for what you want to keep. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting is a nice accent. The in-door storage bins have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls so you can set them to Beverage, Meat, or Deli settings. They’re easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings to be a little rough on the fingers.
The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the all the features you’d expect from a fridge at this price with Wi-Fi and app support via GE’s SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has many options for customizing. It also sends you notifications when the door is left unlocked, when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted, and when the filter has to be changed.
It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill, an option available in a few other GE refrigerators that allows you to set the number of cups of water you’d like to dispense at once. It also has a countdown on the fridge display to show how much water you have remaining, but that’s not as effective as Precise Fill.
Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
Created to appear like a seamless part of your kitchen, Bosch’s french door fridge ice maker-door refrigerator is a standout. This fridge was the top-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test for several reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just a few degrees Fahrenheit and never changing more than a fraction a degree–this is key to preventing freezing burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within an hour and maintained the temperature throughout our tests.
Bosch is known for its high-end appliances, so it’s no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch’s Home Connect platform. This app lets you monitor and control the refrigerator remotely using your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is expensive, however it has top-quality features and functions for the cost.
While the fridge is a fantastic piece of equipment however, it is important to understand the limitations. You may need to get creative with tall items because the fridge has a small shelf space. The refrigerator comes with an ice maker, making it easy to move the frozen ice as needed. The freezer also features clever design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to organize your belongings. It also has a large container for storing frozen food, and a separate one for ice.
Smart InstaView panel is another cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It’s a good method of monitoring and managing your refrigerator, especially when you’re away from home.
Although the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn’t add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. The refrigerator took longer to defrost food and chill it than some others we tried. This is likely due to its bigger capacity.
The doors are a different issue with this fridge. They have handles that are sunken on the front that allow smaller people to pull them open from the bottom, however they’re still difficult for taller people to steer closed without slamming the doors. It would have been better to have front-mounted handles.
The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good option for those looking to combine the benefits of a fridge with a French door with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It’s also a little cheaper than the top counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which helps make it a desirable choice.
Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
If you’re looking for an French door fridge that doesn’t cost you a fortune this Frigidaire is a solid option. It’s a minimalist design that isn’t as visually striking like some of the competitors however it comes with enough features to make it a solid pick. Its most notable feature is the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser as well as a good Ice machine that is fast.
The “Chill Drawer”, which is located over the two crisper bins, is a great feature. The drawer lets you direct the majority of the fridge’s cooling power to this area, so that you can keep food items that require extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using a slider located outside the drawer. It is also possible to use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge, though I’ve found that adjusting the generic settings tends to produce better results than specific ones.
During my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across various parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn’t stray significantly from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a great performance, but it doesn’t quite rank among the best in our rankings.
This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of your fridge’s temperature.
The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a “smudge proof” finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I’ve tested.
