Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever handle is a modern-day door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This kind of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite door handles are constructed of durable materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and run with the same spindle as well as screw fixings so they are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.
The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be positioned and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles. This allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further back in the door. A shorter lever can be used for doors with a latch which can be operated with the thumb located on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door replace window handle made of upvc operates differently from lever-type handles found on most doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are usually employed on UPVC double glazed doors and come in many variations & finishes.
The handles have been tested to at least 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for its intended use.
All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a wider handle, which is usually a benefit when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles for double glazed doors are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of handles that slide out of the horizontal position when they are not in use.
It is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also referred to as ‘handle centres or cylinder centre’. It is important to match the right handles.
After you have determined the correct size of PZ it is important to ensure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are usually a square or round design with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads that we sell are sprung. This means that they return to a horizontal position after not being used, rather than hanging and possibly being stuck in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from getting into a house. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed versions that allow them to be put on either side of the doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are typically found on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. This reveals pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock, and permit them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder is crucial. It depends on the use that your doors and handles receive. External doors, for instance should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure and internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can remove it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is crucial that it’s not too long.
The design of the latest cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This helps stop the attack and protect your doors.
Certain cylinders are made to withstand snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and simpler method to gain access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could hinder insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of your door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their resting position after usage. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. The addition of this simple element is one of the best ways to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your upvc bi-fold doors handle from getting stuck in the open or closed position, since they are not always easy to close manually.
The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They are not compatible with handles that aren’t sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of numerous kinds of uPVC doors.
