Three Wheeled Buggies

Whether you’re looking for a buggy to run around in or a nifty stroller to tackle neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight areas.

If you are looking for an easy ride in your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.

Sturdy frame

Recent figures have been released showing that the three-wheeled buggy which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sense is in a decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easy to drive and look elegant.

The general rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it’ll be for your buggy to deal with bumpy ground and rough pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back makes it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant and a toddler and found it to be extremely durable. It was able to handle grass, cobbles and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require periodic pumping) come with suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. The seat should be large enough to allow your child to be at ease and to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of reclining completely, while others will only allow the parent to be facing one.

An excellent option for taking on off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy can be used as a one-person unit from the beginning and can be modified to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4, and comes with a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large padded seat. The storage options are good too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood, and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels will give your buggy greater stability when driving on rough terrain. This is especially beneficial for buggies designed for off-road use. They also help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies feature rotating front wheels that aid you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability at the speed at which they can be pushed. This is particularly useful when you hit the kerb or a tree. The front wheel will lift slightly to avoid hitting it.

Many 3 wheeler buggies wheel pushchairs – weblink – feature air-filled tyres, which means they are able to handle many different terrains and are far more flexible than four wheelers. They are also lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, and you’ll need to have a repair kit and spare inner tube in your arsenal.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are some of our favourite 3 wheeled pushchair-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM’s Kath, have larger wheels, which according to her “perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles” and are able to go up or down kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that, in her words “smoothes out bumps very effectively”.

The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite wide and make it difficult to get through narrow spaces. This could be problematic if you intend to use it for jogging or have to squeeze through narrow doorways while traveling. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that let you take off the front wheels for more compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

A three-wheeled buggy is more comfortable to drive with children. The way they are built ensures that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are extremely easy to maneuver and are ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried an all-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: “The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was especially useful.” I was also awed by how well it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was very stable in the downhills or on uneven terrain.”

The only downside of this incredible maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy’s larger wheels do sometimes mean it has to struggle in tight spaces, something to consider when you live in a city area. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeler might be better for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars are the ideal way to protect your child from bumps and scrapes when out and about. They are simple and quick to put up and help your child feel safe and secure while out on the town or on the trail.

The bumper bar is designed to match the sleek lines on your Slim Twin stroller. It has a soft, cushioned surface that offers a comfortable surface for your child to grab onto during walks. The sturdy construction and durable design will ensure that your child is able to enjoy strolling around the town without fear of falling or leaning towards the side.

The sling seat made of fabric sits snug inside the frame instead of sitting on top like modular seats, delivering the lower centre of gravity at the right height for your infant and also delivering excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it takes less effort to push the buggy up and over a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath found it to be able to deal well with grass and cobbles and is a great option for jogging due to its lockable swivel front wheel that can be locked and air-filled tyres.

This bumper bar will make heads turn wherever it’s used. It has a classy and elegant design. Available in a range of finishes and colors that can be customized to fit your style. The bumper bar is easily removed and put in place by the quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is easy to clean as it is constructed from strong materials. This makes it a great choice for families who want a safe and stylish accessory for their stroller.

Comfort

A best 3 wheel stroller travel system-wheel buggy is a great off-road vehicle for handling and performance. This kind of buggy is easy to steer and can turn at a moment’s notice due to its perfect geometry engineering, as well as weight distribution.

With a fabric sling seat positioned snugly inside the frame, not sitting on top like modular seats, the Sport’s smart design permits it to have a lower center of gravity that is the perfect level for your child – providing you with a smoother push, a less hefty curb pop (you do not require the same amount of weight or effort to lift the hood of your buggy up and over a curb) and better balance and stability. With its massive rear wheels measuring 16 inches, lockable swivel front wheel and tyres filled with air that only require occasional pumping to give you an unhurried ride on rough terrain and a smoother, more comfortable jog too.

The only all-terrain stroller in our range that comes with an adult-facing seat that can also accommodate a car seat or carrycot, you are able to future-proof your family to enjoy every adventure beginning from the first day and for many years to be!

Kath the MFM reviewer, also appreciated the space of this buggy. There’s a nimble large, spacious basket that’s surprisingly spacious for a buggy that’s this big. There’s also an excellent pouch on the back seat unit, as well as two smaller mesh pockets under the hood, where you can keep your phone and keys.
